About Generations - Frequently Asked Questions

Tell me more about Generations.
For over 57 years the White family has been caring for seniors in Oregon. In 1943 Wendell White began his mission to provide better care for the elderly. Over the years this passion has expanded to his family. Generations is a recognized leader in the senior housing industry in the Northwest for our innovative approach to architecture, construction, and operational abilities. We are committed to delivering the highest standard of service, and to promoting the health and happiness of both residents and staff by treating each and every person with dignity and respect.

Currently Generations communities include Town Center Village, in Portland, Oregon, CherryWood Village in Portland, Oregon; Wheatland Village in Walla Walla, Washington and Paradise Village in National City, California. Also a proud part of our services includes Generations Home Care located in Portland, Oregon at Town Center Village.
How large are the Generations communities?
All of our communities are designed in the campus setting, ranging in size from 5 to 12 acres. Each community gives our residents the opportunity to live in apartments or cottage residences. The Village Square at the heart of each community offers a variety of services and amenities many of which are also open to the public. Each campus has extensive walking paths, putting green areas, community gardening including wellness center/health spas.
What are the financial obligations?
For your convenience, Generations communities are month-to-month rentals with a variety of different options and programs at each community. The monthly fee will include most utilities, scheduled transportation and access to a wealth of social, wellness and recreational activities. Options may include meals, housekeeping, etc., depending on the community. Assisted Living, Home Care, Therapy Clinics and Rehabilitation services are also available at an additional fee.
How do I reserve a residence?
Our Marketing team will assist you in selecting an apartment or cottage that is the perfect fit. At this time there is a required $500 deposit. This is fully refundable until the day your rent begins. At that time it is applied to your move-in fee.

Upon move-in, when your rent begins, you will pay the balance of the move-in fee: an additional $500.
What does the monthly rent include?
The monthly rent provides you with the full maintenance of your residence and a long list of essential services.  Though each community may vary, most include heating and air conditioning, electricity, sewer, water, trash, local phone service, basic cable television, free laundry facilities, scheduled transportation, covered parking, 24 hour staff, emergency call system and access to all recreational, social programs and wellness opportunities.  Check with the marketing representative at the community for a detailed list of all the services and amenities you will receive.
How big are the residences?
Each Generations community has a variety of residences. Ranging in size from 384 to 2100 square feet, choices include studio suites, one or two bedroom apartments as well as penthouses and cottage homes. All designed with your convenience and comfort in mind.
What other points of interest are there at
Generations communities?
Each community features a vast array of amenities such as meeting spaces, library and computer areas, health clubs and activity programs. A full calendar of social events and outings, in addition to specialty services such as banking, health clinics, concierge and more are available right at the community.
Is there a waiting list?
There may be a waiting list for some of the more popular residence styles. Reserving a place on the waiting list is highly recommended for those not immediately ready, but have specific preferences as to what they will want when they are ready to move. Check with your marketing representative for details on how the waiting list works at the community of your choice.
Why should I move to a Generations retirement community?
Moving to a retirement community with access to extended care services is one of the best decisions you can make for your future.  This decision gives you peace of mind, knowing that assistance is available when and if you need it and services and programs are available that will encourage you to thrive.

Choosing a Generations community, each with its own outstanding reputation and years of experience serving seniors, is to choose excellence. Our mission is to enhance lives and celebrate the excitement of living. We look forward to your joining us.
