Nithi Narasappa: Executive Director of Assisted Living

Nithi Narasappa: Executive Director of Assisted LivingWe are pleased to introduce you to a member of our Paradise Village team, Nithi Narasappa. Take a moment to get to know this terrific team member . . .

Why do you like working with seniors and their families?

It is special to me that families trust us to care for their loved ones and I enjoy being invited into their lives. My grandfather and father ran a nursing home in India and I loved watching them interact with people while also providing them with the best care possible. I believe I inherited that passion from them.

Describe your work history:

I started working at Paradise as a waitress after graduating from San Diego Academy. I worked through summer vacations and Christmas breaks while going to college. At the end of my sophomore year, I worked as an Administrative Assistant in the Business office and continued that for two years. After graduating from Pacific Union College with my Business Administration degree, I completed over 1,000 hours as a Administrator in Training, which allowed me the opportunity to train in every department to the extent that I would be able to run it if needed.

When do you most feel alive?

When I am surrounded by those I love because they have a way of bringing out the best in me and it almost always ends with plenty of laughter.

What could you not live without?

By far, my family but also my car. I enjoy long drives to get away every now and then.

What does our mission statement mean to you?

Every day I come to work is an opportunity to celebrate the lives of extraordinary people. They each have a unique story and it thrills me that I have the privilege to serve them and to also learn from them.

Do you have a personal mission?

This quote by Maya Angelou pretty much sums it up: “My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.”

What do you do in your free time?

I enjoy long hikes, checking out new restaurants in town, spending quality time with family and friends. One of my new goals is learning how to cook and I’m realizing that I enjoy being creative in the kitchen. Lastly, I’m always game to put on my dancing shoes and cha cha cha!

What is the best part of your work day?

Walking around the dining room during breakfast and serving coffee. It allows me to start my day on a high by interacting with the residents. They usually have something witty to say which never fails to make my day.

What's your favorite color?

Growing up I always loved red but lately it has been champagne gold.

Tell us about your family:

I live at home with my wonderful parents! I’m the baby of the family and have one older brother who is rather protective. Needless to say, I’m spoiled with a lot of love. I have some family in Maryland but I do not get to see them as often as I like. I love when we are all able to get together because it involves an abundance of delicious food and laughter!
